Artist Statement 

I am drawn to magical realism and fairy tales as ways of transforming reality. For me, it feels almost healing to take the hardships and difficulties of real life and retell them as tales – interested in transforming real-life struggles into tales that carry a sense of lightness, humor, and magical realism. I tell stories rooted in the Middle East and through the eyes of my generation, one that I feel hasn’t been represented in its many layers. A core part of my work is shedding light on women and their diverse experiences — stories often left untold or oversimplified. Through both film and sculpture, I aim to create narratives that give form to the unseen, turning hardship into something alive, imaginative, and human.

I tell stories that move between the straightforward and the magical. Sometimes I lean into realism, other times into the surreal, but always with the intention of giving voice to experiences that deserve to be seen. I try to create my own voice — one that carries both lightness and humor, even when approaching difficult truths.

Ultimately, I want to create tales about real humans who live among us. Stories that weave the everyday with imagination, and that open a window into lives too often overlooked.
