Abdelrahman Fayed

Egyptian visual artist based in Alexandria and a fine art graduate specializing in monumental sculpture with multidisciplinary practices who focuses on the spiritual architecture of the natural world. His work investigates the tree as an anchor for the human subconscious, experimenting with diverse mediums to broadcast the unheard frequencies and emotional resonances of the botanical realm.
 

Artist Statement

Project: SHAGGARATIVE “Shaggarative” explores the spiritual architecture of the tree as a framework for the human psyche. It is an invitation to imitate the tree-likeness state embedded into the subconscious, to pull “form” from “feeling”. Whether expressed through sculpture or chromatic schemes, every iteration of this theme aligns with the core idea of “the tree-like feeling,” bridging the gap between botanical frequency and artistic expression.

WICKERMAN : "Unlike all of my self-portraits, this one holds a special essence, a reincarnation of my thoughts in a pattern. It develops into a whole being, behaving much like ivy, climbing all the way up, portraying a face with which I am totally familiar, deep within my subconscious mind, a mirrored image, I say. Christ had his own crown-of-thorns image, appearing divine to me, a coronation of the man in green, an infinite-branching crown of thorns. A ceremony of turning the metal into a tree. Fruitful imagination forged with fierce fire. Metal welding 100*100*45 cm 2024

Disciples of the Tree: Within the surreal botanic realm of “Shaggarative” the first who approached the tree, the first who resonated with its call and came willingly to learn its ways, yet each one channeled their core energy first then projected it on the entity, to permit parts of its spirit to pass through, to absorb it entirely under their skin and to enable a change to take place, to transform into something familiar with the tree, a coronation happens: The Ivy and the Lily, the masculine and the feminine, the green and the purple. The Ancestor II: The Code Breaker "The successor of Ancestor I, Ancestor II shattered the architecture of its DNA codding, bestowing new ‘animalistic features’ upon the humanoid tree-being. From the very unseen atom of life to the massive mammal, Ancestor II birthed an entire ecosystem starting food chain cycles, the cycle where order and chaos are one.
